Rick Carver serves as a Lecturer in the Theatre department within the School of Music, Theatre and Dance at Oakland University, where he has taught Mime and Acting for non-theatre majors since 2000.
He holds a bachelor's degree from Oakland University and maintains an active professional career as a freelance variety artist since 1986.
Carver specializes in physical performance disciplines including Mime, Acting, Physical Comedy, and Improvisation. His work integrates magic, juggling, stilt walking, and comedic improvisation to engage diverse audiences through both academic instruction and public performance.
A renowned Renaissance festival performer across the Great Lakes Region, Carver is best known for his original character 'the Idiot Ric Roc'—a bumbling buffoon featured at the Michigan Renaissance Festival, Indiana Renaissance Festival, Michigan Medieval Festival, and Rosenvolk German Medieval Festival. His theatrical credits include Audrey II Manipulator in 'Little Shop of Horrors' and the Headless Hessian in 'Sleepy Hollow'.
