Rick Bigwood is a Professor and Academic Dean at the TC Beirne School of Law, University of Queensland. His principal teaching and research expertise spans contract law, property law, and equity. Previously, he served as Senior Solicitor with the Federal Attorney-General's Department and held academic positions at Bond University and the University of Auckland, where he directed the Research Centre for Business Law.
Research Interests: Professor Bigwood specializes in contract vitiation doctrines (duress, undue influence, unconscionable dealing), equitable remedies, and commercial law reform. His work examines doctrinal evolution across Commonwealth jurisdictions and statutory interpretation challenges.
Publication Focus: His extensive publications demonstrate consistent focus on contract law's equitable dimensions, with recent articles analyzing unconscionability doctrines across Australian, Canadian, and Singaporean jurisdictions. His scholarship often engages with judicial reasoning patterns and statutory reforms.
