معرفی
Professor Richard Stillman is a faculty member in the Department of Conservation Ecology at Bournemouth University. His research focuses on predicting how environmental change and human activities affect animal populations, particularly wading birds and wildfowl. He applies agent-based modeling to advise policy and conservation efforts on reconciling wildlife needs with human development.
Educations:
- PhD in Ecology, University of East Anglia (1990)
- BSc in Ecology, University of East Anglia (1986)
Research Interests:
- Environmental conflict resolution (e.g., coastal development, wind farms)
- Behavioral ecology of foraging and decision-making
- Individual-based modeling for conservation and policy
- Population dynamics of migratory species
Recent Trends in Articles: Recent work emphasizes human-wildlife conflict, genetic analysis of fox populations, and mitigating climate impacts on migratory species. Models are increasingly applied to infrastructure projects and fisheries management.
Grants:
- Predicting environmental impacts of tidal power schemes
- Assessing disturbance effects in the Solent
- Coastal bird conservation through modeling
Labs/Teams: Active in interdisciplinary teams addressing coastal ecology challenges, with collaborations on nuclear power impacts and tidal energy projects.
