Richard Oloruntoba is an Associate Professor in Supply Chain Management at Curtin University’s School of Management and Marketing within the Faculty of Business and Law. He holds multiple academic positions, including Discipline Lead for Supply Chain Management and Senior Associate Editor of the International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management. His career spans 21 years in academia, with prior industry experience in logistics and transport management in Nigeria and the UK.
Education: PhD (Newcastle), MBA, MSc Logistics, MSc Shipping, BSc, and advanced diplomas in Shipping & Ports.
Research interests focus on humanitarian logistics, disaster preparedness, healthcare supply chains, and sustainable supply chain practices. His work emphasizes human sustainability, with recent studies on pandemic risk management and maritime supply chains. Key contributions include over 60 refereed articles, $300k+ in competitive grants, and a h-index of 19.
Notable awards include the University of Newcastle Vice Chancellor’s Teaching Excellence Award (2013) and Emerald UK Literati Network Awards (2006–2007). He has supervised 11 doctoral students and served as an external examiner for 7 international PhD theses.
Engagement includes editorial roles at journals like Journal of Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and advisory roles for Emerald Publishers’ SDG initiatives.
