Richard Noyes

Dr. Richard Noyes is an Associate Professor and Herbarium/Greenhouse Director in the Department of Biology at the University of Central Arkansas. He earned his Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology from Indiana University (1999), with prior degrees from Washington State University (M.S.) and University of Vermont (B.A.).

Research explores flowering plant evolution using genetic and phylogenetic approaches. Current projects investigate parthenogenesis genetics, nuclear/chloroplast genome structure, single-copy gene variation, and trait evolution. Combines classical genetics with next-generation sequencing.

Publications focus on Asteraceae systematics, apomixis mechanisms, and biogeography. Recent work characterizes reproductive biology of rare Erigeron species.

Teaches Genetics, Plant Taxonomy, and Biology of Seed Plants. Curates botanical collections and mentors students in evolutionary genetics.
