Richard Marshall

Richard Marshall is a Professor of Cornet at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and a cornet tutor at Birmingham Conservatoire. He holds a BA (Hons) in Band Studies and an LRSM in Bandmastership. Currently serving as principal cornet of the renowned Black Dyke Band, he previously held the same role at Grimethorpe Colliery Band for a decade. His expertise spans performance, pedagogy, and leadership in brass band traditions. He is also a York Performing Artist and Consultant.

Research Interests: Focused on cornet technique, brass ensemble dynamics, and historical performance practices within banding traditions. His work bridges classical and contemporary repertoire, emphasizing pedagogical methods for wind instruments.
