Richard Kenyon is a Teaching Professor at Aston Business School, part of the College of Business and Social Sciences at Aston University. He serves as Deputy Head of the Accounting and Finance Department and teaches courses in Strategic Management Accounting, Business Taxation, and Audit. His professional background includes over a decade in audit and accounting roles across Big 4 firms, public sectors, and healthcare governance, followed by academic roles at Keele University, Northampton, Birmingham City University, and Aston since 2019.
Education highlights include a BSc in Mathematics from Durham University (1981), a PG Dip in Export Marketing Management (1983), and a PG Cert in Teaching and Learning in HE from Birmingham City University (2014). He holds professional certifications such as FCA (Institute of Chartered Accountants) and SFHEA (Advance HE).
Research focuses on ethics in accounting, IFRS standards, and governance. Recent work explores integrating moral philosophy into accounting education and fair value accounting under IFRS 13. He has contributed to 9 research outputs, including peer-reviewed chapters and articles on ethics pedagogy and financial reporting standards.
He currently serves as an External Examiner from 2020-2024 and is affiliated with the Research Centre for the Humanities. His teaching spans Risk Management, Corporate Governance, and audit practices, with a strong emphasis on ethical frameworks in financial decision-making.
