Richard J. Reddick is the inaugural senior vice provost for Curriculum and Enrollment and the Dean of Undergraduate Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. He is Professor in the Program in Higher Education Leadership within the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy in the College of Education, with courtesy appointments in the Department for African and African Diaspora Studies and the John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies in the College of Liberal Arts.
Dr. Reddick earned his B.A. in Plan II Liberal Arts Honors from UT Austin (1995), Ed.M. in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from Harvard (1998), and Ed.D. in Higher Education from Harvard (2007). His research focuses on mentoring relationships in higher education, experiences of faculty of color in predominantly White institutions, African-American families, and work-family balance among junior faculty. He employs qualitative and ethnographic methods to explore diversity issues in American education.
His scholarly work includes numerous journal publications and four co-authored/co-edited books examining African-American education, historically Black colleges and universities, and the impact of the Brown v. Board of Education decision. His research has been featured in prominent media outlets including NPR, PBS, BBC, and the Chronicle of Higher Education, demonstrating significant impact in the field of educational research.

Dr. Reddick has held significant administrative roles including inaugural associate dean for equity, community engagement and outreach for the College of Education (2019-2022), assistant director of the Plan II Honors Program (2015-2019), and co-chair of the Council for Racial and Ethnic Equity and Diversity. He serves as faculty co-chair for Harvard's Institute for Educational Management and previously taught as a Visiting Associate Professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Outside academia, Dr. Reddick is a Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! champion, serves as board chair of Montessori For All, and sits on the Austin Regional Board for IDEA Public Schools. He is married to Sherry and is father to two children, Karl and Katherine.
