Richard Graf

Richard Graf is a Professor of Music Education/IGP and Vice Rector for Teaching and Digitalization at the Jam Music Lab University for Jazz and Popular Music Vienna. He holds a Magister artium in Music Pedagogy from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and completed doctoral studies in Composition Pedagogy. His career includes teaching appointments at institutions like the Donau University Krems and Danube University, focusing on composition, jazz theory, and music pedagogy. Graf has led master’s programs in Music Education and served as Dean of the Faculty of Music Education.

Research interests span composition pedagogy, jazz harmony, digital music education, and interdisciplinary music projects. His artistic output includes CDs/DVDs like Otoño (2021) and collaborations with ensembles like the MAX BRAND Ensemble.

Notable awards include the Golden Ehrenzeichen (2022), NÖ Cultural Prize (2006), and numerous composition fellowships. He leads initiatives like the MAX BRAND Composition Prize and chairs the 'Jugend komponiert' national competition. Graf’s work integrates technology, pedagogy, and performance across international platforms.
