Clemens Hofer

Clemens Hofer is a Lecturer at the JAM MUSIC LAB Private University for Jazz and Popular Music and the Friedrich Gulda School of Music Wien since 2016. He specializes in trombone performance, jazz education, and big band leadership. His teaching focuses on instrumental techniques, ensemble coordination, and artistic development within jazz and popular music frameworks.

• Education: Diploma in Concert Performance and IGP from Vienna Conservatory (2004), Bakkalaureus in Jazz Trombone from University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (2005), Master of Arts from MUK Vienna (2011).

Research interests include pedagogical approaches to jazz trombone, big band dynamics, and interdisciplinary music theatre collaborations. His work emphasizes practical performance training combined with historical and contemporary stylistic exploration.

Hofer has contributed to numerous CD productions as a sideman and leader, including the 2009 Clemens Hofer Trio album Into the Light and 2015's Comfort Zone with TrioBoot. He has performed in major European theatre productions with the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien and led sections in orchestras conducted by figures like Roman Schwaller and Adrian Mears.

Teaching & Leadership: Oversees trombone sections in the Lower Austria Youth Jazz Orchestra and has supervised ensembles at JAM's academic programs. Maintains active involvement in Vienna's music education landscape through masterclasses and curriculum development.
