Richard Gornall

Dr. Richard Gornall is an Honorary Associate Professor and Honorary Curator of the Herbarium at the University of Leicester, affiliated with the Department of Genetics and Genome Biology. He earned a bachelor's degree in Botany from the University of St Andrews (1975) and a PhD in Plant Taxonomy from the University of British Columbia (1980). His career includes serving as Curator and later Director of the University of Leicester Botanic Garden from 1999 until his retirement in 2022.

His research focuses on botanical taxonomy, herbarium collections management, and plant biodiversity conservation. Though no recent publications are listed, his work supports critical documentation of plant species.
