Richard Glover is an Associate Professor in Criminal Law at the University of Sussex’s School of Law, Politics and Sociology. He holds a prominent role in legal academia with expertise across criminal law, evidence law, human rights, and protest law. His professional background includes prior work as a solicitor in criminal practice in London and South Wales while maintaining a practising certificate. Glover is the sole author of the internationally recognized legal textbook Murphy on Evidence, published by Oxford University Press, which serves as a key reference for practitioners and judges globally.
His research focuses on doctrinal legal issues in criminal evidence, protest law, and human rights, with significant contributions to peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Legal History, Legal Studies, and Criminal Law Review.
