Dr. Richard Eva is a Lecturer at King's College London, affiliated with the School of Neuroscience and the Wolfson Sensory, Pain and Regeneration Centre within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience. His research focuses on neuroregeneration, particularly the regeneration and protection of the injured central nervous system. He investigates axon transport mechanisms, neuronal cell biology, and gene therapy approaches for spinal cord injury and eye diseases. His lab employs advanced techniques like fluorescence microscopy and molecular/cellular analysis to study axonal signaling pathways.
Key research interests include axon regeneration, organelle transport dynamics, and the development of therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative conditions. Collaborators include Prof. Evan Reid (University of Cambridge), Prof. Elizabeth Bradbury (King's College London), and others. He leads active grants funded by institutions such as the Glaucoma Research Foundation and the MRC.
Recent work emphasizes enhancing neuron-intrinsic regeneration through molecular targets like PI3 kinase and Protrudin, with projects extending to 2028. His studies bridge fundamental biology with translational medicine, targeting CNS injury and neuroprotection.
