Richard Edmondson is a Clinical Professor of Gynaecological Oncology at the University of Manchester's Division of Cancer Sciences. He leads research focused on improving ovarian cancer treatment pathways, tumor microenvironment analysis, and early detection biomarkers. His work is funded by NIHR, MRC, and CRUK consortia. He holds an MD from Newcastle University (2002) and previously served as a consultant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. He collaborates with the Caswell, Schmidt, and Hurlstone labs and contributes to teaching via the Women and Children's module at UoM.
Research interests include predictive clinical models (IMPRESS2 study), immunotherapy development targeting the tumor microenvironment, and NEMO consortium biomarker research. His team spans proteomic and clinical datasets to advance ovarian cancer care. He actively participates in the North of England Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society network.
Key impacts include implementing TIL therapy in ovarian cancer and contributing to NEWSWEEK commentary on cervical cancer eradication strategies. Current projects emphasize personalized treatment strategies and quality-of-life improvements for patients.
