Richard Carr is an Associate Professor at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), affiliated with the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, Education and Social Sciences and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences in Cambridge. He specializes in modern British politics, particularly British-Irish relations, the Conservative Party, and transatlantic political dynamics. As Course Leader for ARU's BA (Hons) Politics and International Relations, he teaches modules like 'Welfare State to European State?' and 'The Research Toolkit.'
His research interests span British politics in the 20th century, including the Conservative and Labour parties, British-Irish relations, American politics, and the legacy of figures like Charlie Chaplin. His recent publications include acclaimed works on Bill Clinton and Tony Blair's political partnership, the eugenics movement, and interwar British politics.
Richard’s awards include the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Grant (2010) and a fellowship at the JFK Library (2019). He has contributed to think tanks like Localis, focusing on infrastructure finance and local economic growth.
