Richard C. Zink, PhD, is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health Leadership and Practice at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Gillings School of Global Public Health. He also serves as a Principal Research Fellow at JMP Statistical Discovery LLC, where he addresses challenges in medical product and life science industries through statistical innovation. His work focuses on improving data quality, accelerating patient safety reviews, and streamlining regulatory processes in clinical trials.
Dr. Zink earned his PhD in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2003), an MS in Biostatistics (1999), and a BS in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (1996). His research interests include clinical trials, safety endpoint analysis, data visualization, and statistical leadership. He teaches the course 'Fundamentals of Applied Improvisation for Public Health Professionals' and offers similar leadership workshops for statisticians and data scientists.
He actively serves on the Committee on Applied Statisticians for the American Statistical Association, chairs the Leadership-in-Practice Committee of the Biopharmaceutical Section, and has served as Associate Editor for Therapeutic Innovation & Regulatory Science for over a decade. His publications span biostatistical methodologies, real-world evidence applications, and regulatory science.
