Dr Richard Broughton is a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling. His work focuses on developing advanced analytical methodologies to study lipid metabolism in aquaculture species like salmon, particularly to evaluate parity between traditional and novel feed ingredients such as insects and GM oils.
Key research areas include:
- Lipidomics platform development for isomeric analysis
- Phytochemical and omega-3 compound analysis
- Commercial method development for food and human blood spot testing (e.g., Vitamin D and 25-OH Vitamin D)
- Application of LC-MS/MS (Triple quad and QTof), HPLC, and GC-MS techniques
