Richard Bingham is a Lecturer in Digital Cultures at the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, Queen Mary University of London. His work bridges digital humanities and cultural studies, focusing on the interplay between digital objects, cultural practices, and narrative interpretation.

His research explores how online communities reinterpret videogame narratives through code modification, the ethical implications of surveillance capitalism on bodily autonomy, and generational identity in 21st-century fiction. He also examines nonhuman agency in contemporary literature and digital identity formation.
Bingham’s publications highlight interdisciplinary trends, merging game studies, media theory, and postmodern literary analysis. Recent works address hacker cultures, digital affordances, and the sociopolitical dimensions of technology.
He currently teaches courses such as SML4006 Culture and Language and LIB5203 Digital Culture and Society. Office hours are held Tuesdays (10-11am) and Thursdays (2-3pm) in Room G.25A, Arts One building.
