Richard Bevan is an Associate Professor of Art, Design and Media affiliated with the Department of Communications & The Arts. His practice spans film installations using 16mm film and video, as well as artist publishing through collaborations with Tenderbooks.
- Education: BA Fine Art (UWIC/Cardiff Metropolitan University, 2002), MA Fine Art Media (The Slade School of Fine Art, 2008)
Research interests focus on filmmaking, visual arts, artist publishing, and cinematic history, particularly the works of Robert Bresson. His recent projects explore Bresson’s unmade adaptation of Genesis.
Exhibition highlights include solo shows at Cairn, Pittenweem (2019), group exhibitions at the Whitworth Art Gallery (2018) and the Institute of Contemporary Art, London (2018), and international presentations in Tokyo, Utrecht, and London.
Scientific and artistic honors include:
- Gold Medal in Fine Art, The National Eisteddfod of Wales (2016)
- Artists’ International Development Fund award, Arts Council England (2016)
