Dr. Richard Belitsky is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Interim Program Director of the Yale Psychiatry Residency Program at Yale University's School of Medicine. He holds dual roles as Deputy Dean for Education and has extensive leadership experience in academic psychiatry, including serving as Residency Program Director (1996–2006), Interim Residency Director, and Deputy Chair for Education. His academic journey began at Yale in 1979 as a psychiatry resident, progressing to faculty status in 1983.
Dr. Belitsky's educational background includes a B.A. from the University of Florida (1977) and an M.D. from the University of Florida School of Medicine (1977). His professional milestones include medical directorship of the Yale Psychiatric Institute (1991–1997) and leadership roles in the Connecticut Mental Health Center's Inpatient Services Division.
His research focuses on medical education innovation, particularly in patient-centered interviewing, biopsychosocial models, and professional identity development.
