معرفی
Dr. Richard Baird is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Oncology at the University of Cambridge, affiliated with the CRUK Cambridge Centre and Cambridge University Hospitals. His research focuses on early phase clinical trials, breast cancer therapeutics, and novel trial designs involving pharmacodynamic biomarkers and adaptive approaches. He leads investigator-initiated trials funded by organizations like Cancer Research UK, the Brain Tumour Charity, and industry partners such as AstraZeneca and Genentech.
Research Interests: 1. Early phase clinical trials, including first-in-human studies and drug combination trials. 2. Development of predictive biomarkers and novel trial designs (Bayesian/adaptive). 3. Investigator-initiated trials in breast cancer and other solid tumors. Key collaborations include the CRUK Cambridge Centre and the EUROCAN platform.
Publications span over 80 peer-reviewed articles, emphasizing liquid biopsy applications, targeted therapies, and clinical trial methodologies. Notable works include landmark studies on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) analysis and the implementation of biomarker-driven treatment strategies.
Current activities include leading trials evaluating novel agents like camizestrant (SERD) and samuraciclib (CDK7 inhibitor), as well as platform trials like plasmaMATCH that integrate ctDNA profiling to guide therapy. He also contributes to policy initiatives to improve cancer patient outcomes through optimized service delivery and evidence-based strategies.
Labs/Teams: Active within the CRUK Cambridge Centre and clinical trial networks, fostering translational research from preclinical models to clinical implementation.
