Richard Arnold is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Muskingum University, specializing in Russian and European politics, ethnic conflict, Cossack formations, and the intersection of sports and politics. His research examines symbolic violence, hate crimes, and historical/contemporary geopolitical dynamics in Eastern Europe.

He co-edited special editions analyzing the political dimensions of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and FIFA 2018 World Cup. As a member of the PONARS Eurasia network, he contributes to interdisciplinary research on Eurasian affairs.
Teaching responsibilities include comparative politics, international relations, and the Model United Nations program. His work bridges political theory, nationalism studies, and socio-political impacts of international sporting events.
