Dr Richard Allen is a Lecturer in Genetic Epidemiology at the University of Leicester's Department of Population Health Sciences. His academic journey includes a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of York, followed by an MSc in Medical Statistics and a PhD in Genetic Epidemiology, both from the University of Leicester. His research focuses on the genetic mechanisms underlying fibrotic diseases.
Research Interests: Dr Allen specializes in genetic epidemiology applied to respiratory and systemic conditions, with emphasis on:
- Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) pathogenesis
- Progressive pulmonary fibrosis genetics
- Multi-organ fibrosis mechanisms
- Statistical modeling of genetic risk factors
Funding and Activity: His research is supported by a personal fellowship from Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis. He actively engages in public outreach to raise awareness about pulmonary fibrosis and its impacts.
