معرفی
Richard Adade serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Health Promotion and Disability Studies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), concurrently pursuing a Ph.D. in Psychology of Education at the University of South Africa (UNISA) with research focused on sensory-impaired students, particularly the deaf and blind.
His academic journey centers on dismantling communication barriers between deaf and hearing communities. Adade pioneered the integration of Ghanaian Sign Language (GhSL) and Sign Language for Health Communication into KNUST's curriculum, teaching GhSL to tertiary students for over a decade while developing accessible instructional materials including video resources. His current research involves AI-driven multimodal translation systems (voice/text/sign language) developed in collaboration with KNUST's Computer Science and Computer Engineering departments.
Funded by KNUST Research Fund (KReF) and Rail, KNUST, these initiatives target equitable information access for hearing-impaired individuals. Adade actively supports the deaf community through interpretation services and has authored multiple publications as lead author in sign language and inclusive education scholarship, though specific titles remain unlisted in source materials.
