Richard Abel

Dr. Richard Abel is a Senior Lecturer in Musculoskeletal Sciences at Imperial College London's Faculty of Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Surgery & Cancer and the MSk Lab. He leads the Bone Health Group, focusing on bone mechanics, environmental pollution impacts, and clinical decision-making tools. His research integrates synchrotron imaging, molecular dynamics, and biomechanical modeling to address aging-related bone fragility and environmental influences. He co-created the BoneUp podcast, which earned the 2022 Neil Mackenzie Public Engagement Award, and collaborates with industry on diagnostic technologies.
