Ricardo Monzon is a Professor at Berklee College of Music, affiliated with the Percussion, Ensemble, and Music Therapy departments. He is a renowned drummer, percussionist, and studio musician with extensive performance experience, including touring with the Boston Pops Orchestra and recording albums such as the Latin Album and the Grammy-nominated Chris Botti in Boston (2010), which featured collaborations with Sting, John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. His career spans diverse genres, from classical to pop, and he has performed alongside iconic artists like Al Jarreau, Aretha Franklin, and George Duke.
Monzon is deeply involved in community and educational initiatives, including a six-year tenure with Stan Strickland’s Express Yourself (EXYO) program for urban youth, showcased at the Wang Center. He has also closed Boston’s Puerto Rican Festival for five years, collaborating with prominent artists such as Luisito Rosario and Frankie Ruiz Jr. His performances emphasize cultural and musical diversity, blending traditional and contemporary styles.
His contributions to music education are highlighted through his instruction in courses like World Music Composition Styles, reflecting his expertise in arranging, songwriting, and orchestration.
