Ricardo Jiménez

Ricardo Jiménez is a Senior Researcher and Tenure Scientist at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), affiliated with the Institute of Materials Science of Madrid (ICMM) and the Department of Ferroelectric Materials. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and has conducted postdoctoral research at the Laboratoire d'Électrochimie et Physico-Chimie des Solides et Interfaces in Grenoble, France. His expertise spans ferroelectric materials characterization, impedance spectroscopy, and novel thin film deposition techniques.

Jiménez specializes in electrical properties of ferroelectric thin films, low-temperature solution-processing methods, and ionic conductivity in perovskites. He leads national and international projects such as PID2019-104732RB-I00 (Spanish National Research Agency) and collaborates with institutions like Universidade de Fortaleza (Brazil) and Université Nancy (France). His work bridges electrochemistry and materials science, focusing on applications in flexible electronics, solid oxide fuel cells, and multiferroic composites.

He has authored over 106 peer-reviewed articles, including seminal works on BiFeO3 thin films and Aurivillius phase materials. His contributions include pioneering the pulsed hysteresis loop technique for thin film analysis and developing sustainable solution-based deposition methods. Awards include the Ramón y Cajal Program Advanced Grant (2001–2005).

Jiménez directs the Ferroelectric Materials Department and participates in EC-COST initiatives. His labs specialize in thin film preparation, functional property characterization, and piezoresponse force microscopy. Current projects emphasize energy materials and low-impact fabrication processes for lithium batteries and fuel cells.
