Ricardo Gonzalez-Pinzon is a Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at the University of New Mexico (UNM), affiliated with the College of Engineering and the Center for Water and the Environment (CWE). His research focuses on ecohydrology, hydrologic transport, and computational modeling, with an emphasis on stream ecosystems and groundwater-surface water interactions.
Education:
- PhD in Water Resources Engineering, Oregon State University (2013)
- MS in Water Resources Engineering, National University of Colombia (2008)
- BS in Agricultural Engineering, National University of Colombia (2005)
Research interests include solute transport in streams, nutrient processing in aquatic ecosystems, and the development of computational methods for environmental modeling. His Ecohydrology Research Lab investigates ecohydraulic processes and integrates hydraulics, ecology, and chemistry to address water resource challenges. He also contributes to UNM’s CWE initiatives, leveraging field capabilities and the CWE Truck for applied environmental research.
Teaching focuses on hydrologic systems, mass/energy transport, and computational modeling in hydrology. His work aligns with UNM’s NSF CREST programs and collaborations in environmental engineering.
