Ria van Ooijen

Ria van Ooijen is a Teacher-Researcher at Avans University of Applied Sciences in Breda, where she teaches in the Communication & Multimedia Design (CMD) program and serves as vice-chair of the Creation & Communication Examination Committee. Since August 2023, she has been part of the Equal Opportunities for Healthy Choices research group at the Centre of Expertise Perspective in Health.

Her educational background includes:

• Higher professional education (HBO) degree in tourism from NHTV International University of Applied Sciences (now Breda University of Applied Sciences)
• Master's degree in Communication Sciences, specializing in new media and culture, from Radboud University Nijmegen

Her research expertise centers on design research, social design, and empathic user research, with additional focus on media studies and interaction strategy. She has co-developed the CMD curriculum and coached students across all program years.

Ria contributes to the 'Naturally Moving @ Work' project within her research group, developing design and communication strategies to promote healthy workplace choices through applied research.
