Rhiannon Reed

Rhiannon Reed is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Public Health. She also holds roles in the School of Medicine, including Associate Scientist positions at the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) and within the Surgery - Transplantation division. Her appointments span from 2019 to present, with current tenure starting January 2025.

Education includes a Doctor of Public Health (2019) and Master of Public Health (2010) from UAB, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Tufts University (2006).

Her research focuses on epidemiological aspects of organ transplantation, health disparities in donation practices, and caregiver support systems. Notable areas include living donor navigation programs, HIV-to-HIV liver transplantation outcomes, and interventions to reduce racial disparities in kidney donation. She also investigates long-term health impacts on living donors and clinical decision-making in advanced cancer care.

Advising involvement includes serving on dissertation committees for Alexis J Carter (2024) and Michelle Kung (2024). Her grants span 15 projects, including studies on xenotransplantation, caregiver training, and disparities in donation, funded by institutions like NIH, Johns Hopkins, and the American Society of Transplantation.
