Professor Rezaul Begg is Chair in Assistive Technologies at the Victoria University Program in Assistive Technology Innovation (PATI), leading the Gait and Intelligent Technologies (GAIT) research group and serving as Theme Leader for 'Movement for Health' at the Institute for Health and Sport. With appointments at Deakin University, University of Aberdeen, and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in his past, his research focuses on assistive intelligent technologies for gait and balance, combining biomedical engineering, robotics, and artificial intelligence.

His research includes machine learning for gait stability, wearable sensors for fall prevention, and exoskeleton design for neurological injuries. Trends include fall prediction algorithms, smart footwear, and AI-driven mobility aids.
Scientific awards include ICISIP & ICTIIA Best Paper, Victoria University Vice Chancellor's Citation, and Bangladesh Government's Chancellor's Prize. He has supervised 17 PhD and 15 Masters students and secured 7 ARC grants, NHMRC funding, and DST Group projects. Collaborations include Cyberdyne Inc, ASICS Oceania, and Global Safe Australia.
