Rezarta Bilali is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Social Intervention at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. She holds a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her research focuses on three main areas: social psychological factors underlying mass violence, the role of historical narratives in collective action, and interventions promoting intergroup reconciliation through media. Bilali employs mixed-methods approaches including field experiments, surveys, and interviews, conducting research in over 10 countries including Rwanda, Burundi, and Turkey.
Her work has been funded by major organizations like the Spencer Foundation, USAID, and Russell Sage Foundation.
