Reza S. Abhari

Reza S. Abhari is a Full Professor of Energy Technologies and Director of the Laboratory for Energy Conversion (LEC) at ETH Zurich since 1999. He holds a joint appointment in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering and leads the Chair of Aerothermodynamics.

• Education: BA/MA in Engineering Science from Oxford University, PhD in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from MIT (1991)

Research Interests span analytical, computational, and experimental work in:

• Turbomachinery and gas turbine technology
• Wind energy and power generation systems
• Aerospace propulsion
• Advanced diagnostic sensor/actuator technologies
• Semiconductor industry applications

Scientific Awards & Memberships:

• ASME R. Tom Sawyer Award for contributions to gas turbine science
• Christensen Fellow at Oxford University (2010)
• Fellow of ASME
• Member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences (SATW)

Prof. Abhari serves as a technical and strategic advisor to multinational corporations and participates in international/national research committees.
