Dr. Reza Masoudi Nejad is a Research Associate in the Department of Anthropology at SOAS University of London. Previously, he served as a Senior Teaching Fellow at the SOAS Department of History and the Department of Global History at Freie University, Berlin, and as a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity and the Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at Zentrum Moderner Orient and TU Berlin.
His educational background includes:
- BArch/MArch from the University of Tehran
- MSc from University College London (UCL)
- PhD from UCL's Bartlett School of Built Environment (2009)
As an urbanist with expertise in architecture, urban morphology, and anthropology, Dr. Masoudi Nejad investigates the spatial aspects of collective actions, protests, Shi'i religious rituals, urban violence, and urban transformation in Iran and India. His interdisciplinary approach bridges Urban Studies, Social Anthropology, and Architectural Theory to explore how social dynamics shape and are shaped by the built environment.
