Dr. Reza Hashemi is a Senior Lecturer in the College of Science and Engineering at Flinders University and a Full Member of the Medical Device Research Institute. His research bridges mechanical engineering and biomedical applications with a focus on orthopaedic implant durability and performance.

Dr. Hashemi's research centers on biomaterials engineering with specific expertise in tribocorrosion mechanisms at implant interfaces, fretting wear analysis in hip replacements, and additive manufacturing of biomedical alloys. He employs experimental and computational (FEA) approaches to study surface modification techniques, metal 3D printing for implants, and implant retrieval analysis. His recent work integrates machine learning for early detection of prosthesis outliers, demonstrating cross-disciplinary innovation in orthopaedic device evaluation.
