Dr. Reynaud Serrette is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering at Santa Clara University's School of Engineering. Since joining the faculty in 1991, he has pioneered research in cold-formed steel structures through the Light Gauge Steel Research Group (now CLSFR). His work informs seismic design codes and sustainable building practices.
- Ph.D., Cornell University (1992)
- M.S. & B.S., University of Manitoba (1988, 1987)
Dr. Serrette's research focuses on performance-based seismic design of light frame structures and sustainable/affordable construction methodologies. He also explores environmental impact assessments of building materials.
His scholarly output includes foundational work on cold-formed steel shear walls and fastening systems, with key contributions to seismic evaluation provisions and hybrid construction techniques.
- Santa Clara University Packard Mentor/Scholar Professor (1998-2002)
- School of Engineering Research of the Year (2001)
- President's Recognition Award (2000)
Dr. Serrette advises student chapters of the National Society of Black Engineers and American Society of Civil Engineers, teaching courses in structural analysis, steel design, and cold-formed steel construction.
