Dr. Reyhan Yaka is a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Palaeogenetics, affiliated with the Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies at Stockholm University. Her work focuses on archaeogenetics, population genetics, and the genetic basis of human evolution, with a particular emphasis on Neolithic Anatolia.
- Education: PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics (2015-2021), MSc in Biology (2012-2015), and BS in Molecular Biology and Genetics (2007-2012).
Her research involves both wet-lab and computational analyses of ancient DNA, including the development of specialized protocols for poorly-preserved samples. Current projects examine polygenic traits in ancient populations, while past work explored kinship patterns and social structures in Neolithic Anatolia through genome sequencing.
Dr. Yaka has published extensively on topics like kinship estimation tools, Neolithic migration dynamics, and DNA capture optimization. Her work bridges archaeology and genetics, contributing to the understanding of human prehistory and cultural transitions.
