معرفی
Reuben Young is an Associate Research Fellow at the University of Wollongong's School of Chemistry and Molecular Bioscience within the Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health. His work focuses on advancing mass spectrometry-based technologies for lipidomics and metabolomics, particularly in studying disease mechanisms such as osteoarthritis, cancer, and neurodegenerative conditions. Key research themes include spatial metabolite imaging, lipid isomer characterization, and development of novel analytical techniques like ozone-induced dissociation and MALDI-2 oversampling.
His research has been supported by grants such as 'Sparking and fading: Spatially linking the complex metabolic activities of neurotransmitters and lipids during cell death' (2023-2024), investigating neurodegeneration mechanisms, and an equipment grant for mass spectrometry facility maintenance (2023). He collaborates extensively with peers globally, evidenced by co-authorships on over 30 publications.
Recent publications emphasize lipidomic profiling in cancer progression, enzymatic activity mapping in osteoarthritis, and peptide-based cancer therapies. His work bridges fundamental analytical chemistry with biomedical applications, contributing to both instrumentation innovation and disease biomarker discovery.
