Dr. Renée Marchin Prokopavicius is a Research Fellow at the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment (HIE), Western Sydney University. Her research focuses on how plants respond to climate change, particularly the effects of warming and drought on plant function. She leads an ARC DECRA project investigating heatwave survival mechanisms in urban plants, aiming to inform urban greening strategies.
Education: Ph.D. in Plant Biology from North Carolina State University (2013), with prior work as a rangeland technician for the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. Key research areas include plant ecophysiology, functional traits, and climate change impacts on terrestrial and urban ecosystems.
