Renée Gosson is Professor of French and Francophone Studies and Director of the Bucknell en France program at Bucknell University's College of Arts & Sciences. She has served as Faculty-in-Residence in Tours for nine semesters, teaching courses on French Caribbean literature, culture, history, memory, tourism, and transatlantic slave trade legacies across the Black Atlantic.

Professor Gosson's research centers on memorialization and museography of transatlantic slavery, colonial abolition, and decolonial museum practices in France and the French Caribbean. Her work critically examines Black France studies through African Diaspora frameworks, memory politics, and museum representation, with emphasis on postcolonial spatial theory and Caribbean cultural heritage.
Her 2018-2021 publications analyze Guadeloupe's Mémorial ACTe museum and advocate for national recognition of colonial histories, revealing trends in decolonial museology and the politics of memory representation across Black Atlantic contexts.
Her honors include:

She has secured research funding for French Caribbean and France-based projects, co-organizing four international conferences on slavery representation in global museums. Her experiential learning initiatives guide students to French sites and U.S. slavery memory locations including NYC's African Burial Ground, NMAAHC, and Montpelier plantation.
