René Provost is a Full Professor and James McGill Professor of Justice Beyond the State at McGill University's Faculty of Law. He specializes in international law, human rights, humanitarian law, and Indigenous legal traditions. His research focuses on non-state legal systems, armed conflicts, and legal pluralism. He has held prestigious roles, including Founding Director of the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism (2005-2010) and Fernand Braudel Senior Fellow at the European University Institute (2024).
