Ren Moses is a Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the Florida A&M University-Florida State University (FAMU-FSU) College of Engineering. He has been affiliated with the institution since 1998, contributing to academia and research in transportation engineering. His expertise includes Intelligent Transportation Systems, Highway Safety, and Traffic Engineering. Moses holds a Ph.D. from Arizona State University (1996), an M.S. (1994), and a B.S. (1989) from the University of Dar Es Salaam.
Research interests focus on traffic modeling, safety analysis, and transportation workforce development. He has led numerous grants from FDOT and FHWA, totaling over $10 million, addressing issues like roundabout capacity, safety performance functions, and aging population mobility. His Traffic Engineering Lab supports teaching and research with advanced tools like driving simulators and GPS systems.
Moses has received multiple awards, including the Business Achievement Award (2009) and Engineering Research Award (2006). He advises students on topics like crash analysis and transportation policy. His international work includes projects in Tanzania, enhancing education and infrastructure through UNCFSP-funded initiatives.
Moses teaches courses such as Traffic Engineering and Highway Design, with student evaluations averaging 4.2/5.0. He has supervised over 20 graduate students, contributing to impactful research publications and policy recommendations.
