معرفی
Prof. Rejko KRÜGER is a Full Professor in Neurosciences and holder of the FNR PEARL Chair at the University of Luxembourg's Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB). He leads the Translational Neuroscience group, focusing on Parkinson's disease mechanisms, genetic epidemiology, and systems biomedicine. His work integrates clinical research with stem cell and molecular biology approaches.
Key research interests include alpha-synuclein pathology, mitochondrial dysfunction in neurodegeneration, and the development of patient-derived cellular models (e.g., iPSCs). He has pioneered studies on genetic modifiers of Parkinson's disease, such as GBA1 and MIRO1 mutations, and their impact on disease penetrance and progression.
Prof. KRÜGER's translational efforts extend to clinical trials, device-aided therapies, and population-based studies like the Luxembourg Parkinson’s Study. His team also investigates cross-cohort prediction of motor complications using machine learning and explores biomarkers for early disease detection.
- Awards: FNR PEARL Chair (Luxembourg National Research Fund)
- Labs/Teams: Krüger Lab, Translational Neuroscience group at LCSB
- Initiatives: Programme Dementia Prevention (PDP), CON-VINCE study on pandemic immunity
His interdisciplinary approach bridges basic science, clinical practice, and public health, with a focus on personalized prevention and therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases.
