معرفی
Dr. Reiza Mukhlis is a Lecturer at the Department of Mechanical and Product Design Engineering, School of Engineering, Swinburne University of Technology. He obtained his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Swinburne and holds advanced degrees from Technische Universitaet Hamburg Harburg (Germany) and Aalborg Universiteit (Denmark). His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) in Materials Engineering from the Institute of Technology Bandung, Indonesia. Prior to joining Swinburne, he conducted research at CSIRO Australia and Helmholtz-Zentrum Research Centre in Germany.
His research is centered on sustainable materials processing, with a focus on metals and materials recycling, recovery of critical and strategic materials, decarbonisation of materials processes, and thermodynamics and kinetics of high-temperature processes. He leads projects in battery recycling, rare earth element extraction, solar thermal applications, and hydrogen-based metallurgy. His work aligns with global sustainability goals, particularly in clean energy and responsible production.
His recent publications reflect a strong trend toward low-carbon and circular economy solutions in metallurgy, including hydrogen plasma reduction, solar-powered recycling, and aluminothermic recovery of battery materials. These works span journals in sustainable metallurgy, materials science, and environmental technology, emphasizing techno-economic viability and process innovation.
Dr. Mukhlis has secured significant research funding from organizations such as CSIRO, HILT CRC, Sustainability Victoria, and UPALA PTY LTD. His grants support projects on silicon extraction, green steel, and battery recycling, often in collaboration with industry partners like Envirostreams, Lithium Australia, and Upala Pty Ltd.
He is actively supervising multiple PhD students on topics including solar panel recycling, rare earth recovery, and e-waste processing. His leadership extends to coordinating final-year research projects and delivering international workshops on sustainability and high-temperature processing.
Dr. Mukhlis is a core researcher in the Fluid Process and Dynamics Research (FPD) Group, the Net Zero Carbon Materials and Processes Program, and the Energy Transition Metal Flagship at Swinburne. He also collaborates with the Heavy Industries Low-carbon Transition Cooperative Research Centre (HILT-CRC) and maintains international partnerships with institutions in Indonesia, China, and India.
