Reinhard Genzel

Prof. Reinhard Genzel holds a part-time full professorship in Physics at the University of California, Berkeley, and is an honorary professor at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU Munich). He is also Director at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching. His research focuses on galactic nuclei astrophysics, star formation, galaxy evolution, and black holes.

Education: Studied physics at the University of Bonn (Diploma, 1975; PhD, 1978 at Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy). Postdoctoral roles included Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and UC Berkeley as a Miller Fellow.
