Reinhard Alexander Stauber

Reinhard Alexander Stauber is a full Professor of Modern and Austrian History at the Institute of History, Alpen-Adria University Klagenfurt, Austria, and serves as Head of the Department of Modern and Austrian History. He holds leadership roles including Vice Rector for Human Resources and Infrastructure (2020–2024), former Dean and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Studies, and Board member of the Institute of History. His academic journey includes habilitation in Modern History (1998) and a doctorate from the University of Munich (1990).

Research focuses on Enlightenment-era reform absolutism, political spatial history of the Central Alps, Habsburg-Wittelsbach relations, Napoleonic Europe, and Italy's European connections. He has held visiting roles at institutions in Rome, Munich, and Innsbruck, and conducted research at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. Key honors include the Feodor Lynen Fellowship for research in Trento.
