معرفی
Prof. Reiner Orly is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel). His academic journey includes roles as Associate Professor (2002–2010), Senior Scientist (1993–2002), and Postdoctoral Fellow at Baylor College of Medicine (1990–1993). He holds the Berstein-Mason Professorial Chair of Neurochemistry and leads the M. Judith Ruth Institute for Preclinical Brain Research.
- Education:
- PhD, Molecular Genetics, Weizmann Institute (1985–1990)
- MSc, Microbiology, Hebrew University (1983–1985)
- BSc, Field Crops, Hebrew University (1975–1978)
Dr. Reiner’s research focuses on neuronal genetics, particularly the molecular mechanisms underlying brain malformations. His lab develops human brain organoid models and an on-chip device for long-term live imaging of early brain development. Key areas include neuronal progenitors, stem cells, and complement pathway roles in neurodevelopment.
His recent articles highlight advancements in organoid-based systems, mechanobiology of brain folding, and genetic insights into cortical development. Awards include the Fullbright Award (1990), Basil O’Connor Scholar Award (1994–1996), and the Aser Rothstein Career Development Chair (1994–2003).
Grants and leadership include the Berstein-Mason Chair and directing the M. Judith Ruth Institute. His work bridges basic neuroscience with clinical applications in developmental disorders.
