Paško Rakić is a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Neurobiology at Yale University School of Medicine since 1978. He has also served as Director of the Kavli Institute for Neuroscience at Yale since 2004. Previously, he held academic positions at Harvard Medical School (1962-1978) and the Biological Institute in Belgrade (1967-1969).

- Brain evolution and developmental neurobiology
- Neuropathology of congenital brain disorders
- Genetic and epigenetic regulation of neuronal interactions during development
- Study of spontaneous and induced mutations in mice
