Reiko Kataoka

Reiko Kataoka is Lecturer in Linguistics and Language Development at San José State University, teaching courses in phonetics, phonology, and evolution of sound communication systems since 2012.

Her research investigates speech perception mechanisms, particularly how humans map acoustic signals to mental representations. Current projects examine auditory plasticity, variability, and historical sound change relationships.

Publications appear in Journal of the Acoustical Society of America and Berkeley Linguistics Society proceedings. Research employs experimental methods to study phonetic category formation and perceptual adaptation.
