Reijo Kouhia is a Visitor (Faculty) at the Department of Civil Engineering, Aalto University. His academic qualifications include a Doctor of Technology (1999), Master of Science (1990), and Diplom-Ingenieur (1986), all in structural mechanics from the Helsinki University of Technology (now part of Aalto University).
His research focuses on structural mechanics, computational mechanics, and finite element analysis, with contributions to energy harvesting systems, fatigue modeling, and materials science. He has authored over 120 publications, including studies on ceramic-titanium bonding, high-cycle fatigue calibration, and magneto-mechanical energy harvesting.
As Editor-in-Chief of Rakenteiden mekaniikka (Journal of Structural Mechanics), he actively contributes to academic governance. He has organized conferences, hosted visiting scholars, and reviewed doctoral theses. His work includes collaborations on biomedical materials and Academy of Finland-funded projects in engineering.
